Lucy Mueller

Lucy Mueller recently retired from a career in geriatric nursing. Her journey as a photographer dates back to the early 90’s with shows at the Empty Bottle and the now defunct BopShop (both music venues in Chicago). Beginning with black and white film photography, then moving to color film, she now shoots digitally.

She has completed five series of works over the years. These can be seen at lucymuellerphotography.com. "Inanimate Lives" and "City Views" have been her most popular series. "Inanimate Lives" focuses on dolls, toys, roadside attractions, and kitsch. "City Views" looks at Chicago’s buildings and the downtown. Other series include "Slice of Life", "Dualities", and "Man vs. Nature" which focus on oddities we encounter, double exposures, and nature’s interface with man, respectively.

She is working on a new project called "Always in Our Hearts". It focuses on memorials to the dead, including public works, privately erected tributes, such as roadside crosses and ghost bikes, and other homages to departed loved ones.

In addition, Lucy does erotic photography work, focusing on sexual subcultures. Her erotic work can be seen at lamougephoto.com.

Lucy’s work has been featured in numerous solo and group shows. She has won several awards for her work. She has also curated shows for juried artists at the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival and Day in Avondale festival.
