Delaney DeMott

Delaney DeMott engages in the playful periphery of the imagined. She reinterprets self-constructed identity through layered stages of digital and sculptural representation. DeMott is propelled by her incessant curiosity to entertain irrational, profane and humorous impulses from within her imagination. She yields to the conceptual and material tease that this contrived world demands and in doing so pursues the discovery of new territories in identity, character and sexuality. DeMott has participated in numerous exhibitions such as the Tyler School of Art's solo show alumni weekend, Philadelphia; "Victory for Tyler," Philadelphia; The Kinsey Institute, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana; "Salon of Troy" group show, Chicago; "Books/Publications: SAIC Alumni Profile," video interview, 2013; "Confronting the Abject," SAIC Press, 2013; "The Object of Distraction" blog; "Inside the Artist’s Studio" interview. Awards include Juror’s Grand Prize, "Victory for Tyler" show; William Merchant R. French Fellowship. DeMott is a part-time faculty member at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in contemporary practices. She received her BFA from the Tyler School of Art at  Temple University and her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
