Alex Kostiw

Alex Belardo Kostiw is an artist, designer, and educator in Chicago. Their practice folds poetic, adapted, and iterative elements into visual structures of comics and conceptually driven forms. Through storytelling, Alex frames strange moments in familiar experiences, making room for everyday perceptions to shift and transform. Their work pursues ideas around mythopoeia; in-betweenness; longing for connections crossing time and space; and the interactivity of reading.

Alex is an assistant professor of visual communication design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Their work has been exhibited at Co-Prosperity in Chicago, Evanston Art Center, Carlow University Art Gallery, Pittsburgh, and Tephra ICA, Tephra, VA.
