Ceramics studio space available
We are a ceramics co-op studio and we have space for another member- available immediately. We are in Evanston, IL, about 10 minutes North of the Chicago border- not far from Rogers Park. This is an awesome shared workspace with 24 hour access. As a member you get a full bank of shelves and off shelf storage for clay and glazes if necessary. We have a fairly new Bailey gas kiln, plus 5 electric kilns of varying sizes available for your use. We charge nominal firing fees for kilns based on the temp you are firing. We often share kiln space to cut costs. There is a fully stocked glaze kitchen with almost all the chemicals you could think of that is included with your membership. There are several tables for handbuilding and a wheel area for throwing. Some members have their own wheels, but there are a few available for sharing. We also have a communal slab roller, wedging table, spray booth, bench grinder, and rolling ware carts for work in progress. This is a very user-friendly space with high, exposed beam ceilings with skylights and a garage door/loading dock so you can easily roll in boxes of clay or builky things. Floors are all concrete and can be easily hosed down for cleaning. We also have two studio sales a year if you are interested in selling your wares. If you are not familiar with firing or mixing glaze we are happy to teach you- let us know.Monthly rent is $275 plus any firing fees which are charged quarterly. To apply, visit our website and check the items needed for application: http://midwestclayguild.net/about-1/You need a few images of your work, resume, statement, and three references who can vouch that you're a nice person. :-DOnce you submit your application it will be forwarded to the Guild members for voting. Thanks for checking us out! If you'd like a tour first, shoot us an email and we'll set it up!
