Worship Technician

THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF ARLINGTON HEIGHTS

Job Description

POSITION: Worship Technician

PURPOSE: To run audio and video for live church events and to produce video and audio content for promotion on the church’s website and social media accounts.

ACCOUNTABILITY: To the Session of the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, through its Personnel Committee, under the supervision and leadership of the Pastor, Head of Staff.

COMPENSATION: $20-$25/hr (based on experience) Avg. 10-15 hrs/wk

SUPERVISOR: Director of Worship and Music

ACCREDITATION: Bachelor’s degree, education or relevant experience in the field of media production and communications.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Worship Services

a. Manage the soundboard during worship services, ensuring that the congregation can hear all audio from worship leaders and PowerPoint presentations

b. Manage the PowerPoint slides during worship, ensuring that they are correctly timed with the worship elements

c. Manage the livestream feed by toggling between the camera and PowerPoint, ensuring that online viewers can experience worship from afar

2. Other Live Events (concerts, adult education, God’s Honest Truth, Annual Speaker, weddings, funerals, etc.)

a. Manage the soundboard during live events, ensuring that the congregation can hear all audio from speakers, musicians and prerecorded content

b. If necessary, manage the PowerPoint slides during live events, ensuring that they are correctly timed with the needs of the event

c. Manage the livestream feed by toggling between the camera and PowerPoint, ensuring that online viewers can experience the event from afar

3. Post Production

a. After every event at the church (worship, concert, adult education, God’s Honest Truth, Annual Speaker, weddings, funerals, etc.) produce an edited version of the event for online viewing

i. Sermons: produce an edited version of the sermon with the PowerPoint slides overlaid at the proper points in the sermon and upload to Vimeo

ii. Worship Services: make all livestreamed worship services live on the backend of IBM video streaming. When requested, produce edited songs or other components of worship as single videos that will be uploaded to Vimeo

iii. Concerts: make all livestreamed concerts live on the backend of IBM video streaming

iv. Adult Education: produce an edited version of each individual class and upload to Vimeo so it can be posted on the website

v. God’s Honest Truth: produce an edited version of each individual story along with a full version of the entire event and upload to Vimeo so it can be posted on the website

vi. Annual Speaker: produce an edited version of the full event to be uploaded to Vimeo so it can be posted on the website

vii. Weddings: when requested, produce an edited version of the wedding service for the bride and groom

viii. Funerals: make all livestreamed worship services live on the backend of IBM video streaming when necessary

b. All other post production needs as requested by staff

GENERAL ON-SITE WORK HOURS:

1. Standard Hours

o Sunday: 8:30am-12:00pm (worship)

o Wednesday: 7:00pm-8:00pm (adult education)

2. Special Events

o Sunday: 3:30pm-6:00pm (concerts)

o Wednesday: 11:45am-1:00pm (recitals)
