Virtual Drama Instructor

Are you a theater professional looking for part time work this school year?

The South Chicago Dance Theatre is seeking a teaching artist for the 2020-2021 school year to teach Drama at a local elementary school.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Theater performance.

Strong communication skills, written and oral.

Experience teaching students in grades K-12.

Strong classroom management skills.

Understanding and experience with curriculum design, planning and instruction.

Job Summary:

With the support of the SCDT's Director of Education, the teaching artist will plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students.

Essential Job Skills:

Monitor and evaluate student outcomes.

Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.

Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.

Plan, organize and provide instruction based on Common Core State Standards.

Administer informal and formal assessmentsIncorporate district initiatives within instruction (adopted programs/policies).

Evaluate and assesses student progress against instructional objectives.

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessments, diagnosis, and research related to learning.

Demonstrate knowledge of educational research, trends, and best practices.

Provide written feedback to students.

Maintain accurate, efficient, and effective records for instructional and non-instructional purposes.

Manage classroom organization
