TSG Teaching Artist | Spanish Speaking


The Simple Good is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to connect the meaning of ‘good’ from around the world to empower at-risk youth to bring positivity into communities through art and discussion. Through public art projects and youth art programming, we transcend the message that no matter where you go in the world, good means the same to all of us and that is what connects us as human beings.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about working with youth and inspiring to build strong and empathic communities. Our intention is to build a community of talented teachers and artists globally who would like to impact their communities while using art and mindfulness as a vehicle. We foster meaningful exchange of ideas across age, race, and gender.

The teaching artist will instruct class four times per week. Prep time will be included in the compensation package. As representatives of TSG in the studio, classroom, and the communities they serve, teaching artists share a commitment to our mission and values.

Program Start Date: September2021

Locations: Little Village, Chicago

Population Served: 6th graders, ESL students

Lead small group activities that are age appropriate in an atmosphere where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences enhancing the social and academic advancement of children in his/her care.Basic understanding of art and Social Emotional Learning practices.Prepare and modify lesson plans to meet the needs of students.Prepare materials and equipment for after school instructional activities.Be prepared to implement lesson plans and activities. Lead weekly classes, using TSG Curriculum.Track progress of student development both academically and socially and implement pre & post-assessments.Maintain a daily attendance log.Attend team meetings and regular checkins with the Executive Director and all staff.Be punctual. The after school program follows the instructional calendar and is closed during normal school holidays.Welcome and supervise the work of volunteers & complete assessments/rubrics in a timely mannerAvailable to work assigned work hours. Program days and times may shift throughout the school year. Must have schedule flexibility to accommodate.Must be an active participant and a positive role model to children both in and outside of classroom.Exhibit respectful, courteous and helpful behavior to children, staff, parents/guardians, school, personnel, agency representatives, and the general publicReport TSG weekly updates, feedback or concerns throughout the course of the program.Attend required meetings and initial professional development training.Help with the execution of Final Student Art Showcase.Build relationships with parents, children, and the school administration/ teachers.


Must be currently enrolled or completed a degree in an accredited college or higher education.At least 1 year experience with working with children in classroom setting.Experience working with students, in varied grade levels, from diverse backgrounds specifically low income communities.Must meet background clearance requirements, including fingerprintingKnowledge of Social Emotional Learning, therapy and/or mindfulness practicesPossess love, care, and concern for children and enjoy being with and working with children.Possess passion for teaching children through community service learningBe an active participant to the Simple Good and inspire the simple good in others!

All instructors are expected to wear masks at all times onsite and follow COVID-19 requirements in place by our site partners.
