Technical Director / Master Carpenter @ The Stage School

The Stage School is currently seeking a Technical Director/Master Carpenter for our 2022 Summer Camp productions.

Responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Determining how the scenery will be built
  • Managing budget/purchases as needed
  • Constructing set pieces
  • Overseeing assistant carpenters and scenic artists
  • Coordinating load in and strike of each set
  • Communicating with the producer, as well as properties, lighting and costume designers as needed to ensure cohesive artistic implementation of each production

Work days will be scheduled at a mutually agreed up time, with daytime and evening weekday and weekend hours available beginning in early June through July. If you have access to your own shop space, work can be conducted off site as well.

Performances will take place at Prairie Lakes Theater in Des Plaines or at the Centennial Activity Center in Park Ridge.

Load in for each production will take place on Friday evening, June 24, July 1, July 15, July 22, July 29 & August 5. Production strikes will take place on Saturday afternoons from approximately 3 pm – 6 pm on June 25, July 2, July 16, July 23, July 30 and August 6.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Prior scenic design and carpentry experience
  • Highly organized and able to work independently
  • Able to manage a team effectively
  • Valid driver’s license
