Teaching Artivist

Red Clay Dance Company & Academy are excited to request applications for Teaching Artivists to join our 2020-2021 Teaching Roster. Our search is for dance artists who combine high skill with innovative execution to provide quality educational experiences to our program participants. This role is a unique opportunity to join a trendsetting, culturally relevant, socially transforming, elite dance organization in the Chicagoland Area. "We envision an Artivist as one who utilizes their artistic genius to become part of the solution for social change. Creatively using the body and movement as tools to gain personal and collective freedom!" (RCD).This position works within our Academy and/or Community Engagement, Education, and Partnership (CEEP) Programs. Our program types are:Red Clay Dance Academy- the official dance school of Red Clay Dance Company. Offers tuition-based group dance instruction in a variety of styles for ages 5 and up.School Residency Programs- In-school or After-school dance instruction in public and private K-12 schools.Community Partnerships- Group dance instruction offered at non-school based partnerships.Making the Artivist Program- Designed to train teen and young adult participants in social justice art making.NOTE: All program types will require the flexibility for staff to provide instruction in-person and/or via remote learning for the 20-21 Academic Year.
