Teaching Artist Specialist: Children's Theater

Teaching Artist: Children's Theater

South Chicago Dance Theatre is currently seeking teaching artists specializing in drama, playwriting, and improvisation to serve in our school day programs through partnerships with Chicago Public Schools. Teachers are responsible for maintaining an engaging curriculum that is performance-based, taking and submitting attendance, and committing to scheduled classes for the 2021-2022 school year.

Responsibilities:

• Work with SCDT's Director of Education to create and deliver an effective instructional strategy that emphasizes student voice. Instructional topics include playwriting, improvisation, basic acting, and exercises in cross disciplinary studies (ie: working with a visual art instructor to implement a visual art and drama curriculum).

• Collaborate with SCDT's Director of Education to provide quality performance presentations of classes two times per year.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor of Arts degree in theater or relevant experience

Self-Starter

Excellent interpersonal skills

Reliable Transportation

Past teaching experience

Scheduling:

All classes will take place during the school day between the hours of 9:00AM-3:00PM.

Compensation:

SCDT offers a competitive pay scale based on work experience, qualifications, and expertise.
