Teaching Artist Position
The Chicago Mosaic School is a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the fine art of mosaics by providing opportunities art study and education. As the first and only center for Mosaic Arts education outside of Europe, the school offers classes, workshops, and seminars with some of the world’s most renowned contemporary artists., The school is home to its affiliate gallery, The Gallery of Contemporary Mosaics (GoCM), which exhibits contemporary mosaic works by national and international artists throughout the year.
CMS has been an arts partner with AfterSchool Matters for over a decade and we are currently seeking professional artists with some mosaic experience or artists that are interested in working in a community that offers offering teaching, exhibitions, and non-profit work.
ASM Lead Artist for CMS Collaboration ProgramSkills and Qualifications: BA, BFA, MFA or minor in the arts or currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college degree programStrong interest in fine arts, hardworking, with an ability to take direction and desire to learn.Some previous administrative or customer service experience is a bonus and/or experience working in a fine art school or studio environment.Any experience teaching youth ages 3-18Interest in maintaining a studio practiceTraining:
The Chicago Mosaic School invests in the training of their new teachers. In doing so, teachers are required to take specific classes as well as shadowing Mosaic Basics Classes throughout their first month.
This is a part-time position with a great opportunity to grow within our wonderful organization as both instructor and artist.
