Support Teaching Artist for Puppetry/Mask Program near Lawrence & Kedzie

Description: Seeking a Support Teaching Artist for all planning, build, and performance dates at Edison Regional Gifted Center to assist students with design, construction, trouble-shooting, and performance of puppet elements for their original Fractured Fairy Tales. The class culminates in 3 performances for peers and families. The Support Teaching Artist will be supporting a Lead Teaching Artist (already placed) and the Edison Arts Teacher who will be working collaboratively on this project.

Location: Edison Regional Gifted Center: 4929 N. Sawyer, Chicago, IL 60625

Student Age Range: 4th grade

# of Students: 31 students who will be working in 6 groups of 5-6 per group

Schedule:

Mondays, 11am-Noon

Fridays, 8:45-9:45am

Budget: This program has a supply budget of $1,500, which will be managed by the Lead Teaching Artist and Edison Arts Teacher.

Additional Information

  • This program's curriculum will be developed by the Lead Teaching Artist in cooperation with the Edison Arts Teacher. The role of the Support Teaching Artist will be to work closely with 2-4 student groups per week to help guild their design and build process.
  • There are a few class dates (noted above) when the STA will be present to assist the Edison Arts Teacher on this project without the Lead Teaching Artist present.
  • The ideal candidate for this Support TA position will have a background in one or more of the following: puppet-making, cosplay, mascot costuming, mobile sculpture, large-scale sculpture, set/prop design, and/or any other field that combines 3-dimensional design with engineering.

Pay: $22/hr for a total of around $800.00 for the program.
