Support Teaching Artist, 15 hours a week, full year
Support Teaching Artist(s) for Interdisciplinary Performing Arts classes
- Description: Assist Lead & Guest teaching artists with program delivery on a regular schedule the full school year.. The program is an interdisciplinary “Performing Arts” class serving students in Grades K through 5.
- Location: Prescott Elementary School, 1632 W. Wrightwood Ave., Chicago, IL 60614
- Student Age Range: Grades K through 5 (details below)
- # Students/Class: about 22-26. On the small side for CPS.
- Schedule: Classes meet 5 days a week every day CPS is in session for the full school year:
- 12:45-1:45pm: Grades 4/5
- 1:45-2:45pm: Grades K/1
- 2:45-3:45pm: Grades 2/3

- All applicants must:
- complete a fingerprint background check immediately upon hire.
- participate in paid training 2 to 4 times a year.
- Be available on a regular schedule for the full school year.
- Job duties include:
- Working one-on-one with students who need assistance or need a break,
- Helping the Lead and Guest Teaching Artists deliver their curriculum.
- Helping set up/break down class space, supplies and materials.
- Leading some games, warm-ups and activities.
- Fill in for (and be paid as) the Lead TA in case of absence.
- All applicants must:
- Qualifications:
- 2 or more years experience teaching youth in any field.
- 5 or more years experience (professional or hobbyist) with music, dance, theater, and/or visual arts.
- About Us: Idea Box Integrated Arts is a deliberately small arts education non-profit focusing on interdisciplinary, cross-disciplinary, and academically integrated arts residencies. Our programs focus on introducing the tools of art-making, then guiding students through the creative process to develop their own work using what they have learned. - Pay: $20/hr for all class hours, 2 to 15 hours a week (depending on applicant availability)
