Job Summary

This position will help spark creativity of people of all ages through the museum’s summer Education Center programs, largely focusing on weekly summer camps for ages 5-12. Supporting the museum’s education staff (Manager of Education and Education Programs Associate), the Studio Manager will coordinate with lead camp counselors and class instructors to help provide creative and academically sound summer curriculum.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support for creative and innovative summer camps (over 400 students ages 5-12) and classes (50 - 100 students of all ages)
  • Greets new camper and parents, which change each week
  • Serves as a main contact for students, parents, counselors, and instructors for day-to-day tasks
  • Manages education studio classroom schedule and use
  • Provides any support to weekly curriculum changes
  • Manages and helps maintain clean and organized art studios, including accessibility, storage, equipment, and supply needs
  • Maintains supplies and supplies budget for summer programs, including placing new orders to restock materials
  • Coordinates the display of student artwork in the Education Center with staff, counselors, and instructors
  • Ensures accuracy of all education registrations and website listings
  • Assists with internal reports and maintain general reporting records
  • Assists with marketing efforts and impact records by documenting classes, curriculum, and completed student projects.
  • Substitutes for counselors or instructors when needed
  • Plans for next season’s classes including schedules, supply needs, online listings, and marketing materials
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred from a regionally accredited institution in Art, Art History, Art Education, Museum Studies, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to art and education related questions from staff, students, and the general public
  • Ability to work well with children and families including special needs
  • Must display initiative, provide creative solutions, and utilize diplomatic skills with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy and professionalism in all circumstances
  • Possess excellent organization and communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include occasional evening and weekend assignments
