Metropolis Performing Arts Centre is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The theater houses 329-seats which hosts hundreds of produced and presented performances each year including a Main Stage subscription series and a variety of concerts, comedy, and cabarets.

Position Overview
The Stage Manager plays a key role in the success of this production. This role is responsible for communicating the Director’s notes to cast, moderating rehearsals, scribing blocking and cues, and notifying cast and crew of all updates. The SM will work closely with the ASM, artistic team, and Production Management to provide organization throughout the production.


  • At least 2 years of SM/ASM experience
  • The ability to work independently and in a collaborative, dialectical manner
  • The ability to keep Directors and cast on schedule
  • The ability to delegate, advocate, and ask for assistance
  • Active listening skills required
  • Incredible organization skills required

Essential Duties

  • Meet with Director and Production Manager to determine the needs of the production
  • Ensure all performers, designers, and musicians have appropriate music & materials
  • Ensure that all rehearsal and performance spaces are restored and locked after use
  • Create schedules, prompt books, breakdowns, and plots
  • Ensure applicable union rules are followed for both rehearsal and performance periods
  • Attend production meetings, understudy, and put-in rehearsals
