Recess & After School Supervisor - $19/hr

Saint Clement School is looking for part-time Recess and After School Supervisor Teachers committed to helping kids be safe and have fun. This is a great opportunity for students and artists looking for part-time work in the field of education or for those looking to further develop a career in education or student/youth development.

-- The lunch/recess component involves supervising students from grades Kindergarten through 8th grade during their scheduled Recess and Lunch periods. Hrs: 10:15am-12:45pm. 2.5 hrs.

-- The After School component involves supervising students in our daily extended-care After School program. Grades range PK3 through middle school. Activities include homework, outdoor play, sports, games, and arts and crafts, among others. Hrs: 2:30pm-6:00pm. 3.5 hrs.

-- additionally, weekly 1.5hr staff meeting for professional development, skill building, and processing. Wednesdays, 1pm.

Supervisors are expected to ensure that students follow the guidelines and expectations of the school, maintain safe behavior and play, and to help students cooperatively reflect, learn, and change when they do not meet these expectations. Supervisors frequently help students peacefully resolve conflicts that arise, and always foster a positive, empathetic environment in which students can thrive. Utilizing Jane Nelson's "Positive Discipline" model of Social-Emotional Learning, our team meets weekly for professional development and always strives to balance kindness and firmness with students.

Candidates should be responsible, patient, demonstrate a strong capacity for team collaboration, and genuinely enjoy working with children. Candidates should feel confident leading groups of 20-25 students and safely transitioning groups this size between different areas of the school building and grounds. Candidates should be aware of and amenable to "Restorative Justice" models of discipline and accountability.

Bachelor’s degree not required. Experience working with children (camp, teaching, coaching, tutoring, babysitting/childcare), college coursework in education preferred.

Hours: 25.75 hrs/week. PPE provided by employer

Salary: $19.24/hr
