PT Retail Assistant at Home & Gift Boutique, Neighborly
Neighborly is a small design-driven shop with two locations in Wicker Park and Lincoln Square and a summer location on the Chicago Riverwalk at Michigan Avenue. We carrying home goods, gifts and artwork from independent and fair trade brands. We are looking to hire a part-time Retail Assistant through the end of 2021 to primarily work at our Riverwalk Outpost through October, and then at one or both of our brick and mortar locations through the end of the year. Please note the Riverwalk location is outdoors (under cover).
This is a paid hourly position with the following set schedule.
Thursdays: 12-7p (optional)
Fridays: 12-7p (optional)
Duties include opening and closing the outpost, greeting customers on the Riverwalk, assisting visitors as they browse, checking customers out, restocking shelves and maintaining shop appearance, assisting visitors with directions and recommendations.
They will also have the important task of representing Neighborly and sharing the shop's story, as well as acting as an ambassador for the City of Chicago and the craftspeople whose products we carry. The person who enjoys being outdoors and chatting with strangers about our great city will be a great fit for this position!
> have prior experience in retail or hospitality
> have a demonstrated interest in independently made products and/or the arts
> have a great attitude, especially when providing customer service
> are organized and pay attention to details
> are comfortable being outdoors (under cover) in all the types of weather that Chicago presents from May-October
At this job, you will be expected to:
> Offer exceptional customer service, greet every customer that comes to the shop, assist them with product information and recommendations, provide an easy and pleasant shopping and checkout experience.
> Learn in detail about our products, where and how they’re made and who they’re made by.
> Learn and become a wizard at using our POS system, Shopify, to checkout customers, perform returns, and look up product info and inventory.
> Maintain shop to be clean and orderly with basic tasks like folding Tshirts, rearranging out of place products, sweeping, cleaning, dusting shelves, removing trash and recycling, etc.
> Restock shelves when items sell, similarly, replace artwork on wall/display as needed. Restock supplies for checkout.
> Establish checks to notify manager when inventory of a product is low.
