Program & Event Facilitator - Night Out in the Parks

Chicago Park District envisions parks as vital cultural spaces that encourage all Chicagoans to explore and embrace the arts and their power to enhance individual quality of life, neighborhood development and community dialogue. The Park District works with many of Chicago’s performing arts artists and arts groups to offer music, theater, dance and other art forms in parks across the city.

The Program & Event Facilitator will collaborate with artists and arts organizations of all sizes to enhance park programming via the coordination of performances and cultural events. This position will manage performing arts-based partnerships as part of Night Out in the Parks program, bringing cultural events to neighborhood parks, from the early planning stages through promotion, production, and evaluation. This work requires strong organization and communication skills, assessing both the needs of artists and individual parks/communities in order to create mutually beneficial relationships and successful events.

Characteristics of the Class: Under supervision, coordinates special programs and events to bring programming resources to parks that would otherwise be unavailable. Performs related duties as required.

General Examples of Duties: Plans and oversees special citywide programs in order to bring programming resources to the parks. Meets with individuals from partner organizations, determines tasks and ensures their completion. Works with key individuals to define tasks and timeliness, gather and disseminate information and execute projects. Prepares reports and promotional materials on special programs.

Desirable Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration or related field, supplemented by 1 - 3 years of event planning, arts management, or related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
