Program Assistant

Awakenings seeks a Program Assistant to join our team in the Ravenswood neighborhood. Awakenings' mission is to make visible the artistic expression of sexual violence. We offer a range of visual, literary, and performance events and programming for survivors, allies, and advocates of sexual violence and for our community as a whole. We believe art is healing, and we believe survivors need resources and opportunities to show what their healing and their survivorship looks and sounds like.

The Program Assistant will be an integral part of the arts programming team at Awakenings and be a creative voice with attention to detail and the ability to balance administrative work with building relationships and furthering Awakenings’ mission to give survivors of sexual violence a creative voice to express themselves. The Program Assistant will support the Creative Director in long term and short term event planning, ongoing and new relationship building with artists and collaborators, and will be hands on with administrative and creative tasks such as the installation of exhibits, set up for events and other tasks that make up a small arts department of a nonprofit.

The Program Assistant is a brand-new position at Awakenings, and we are looking for someone who is able to balance the priorities of multiple projects. We want someone who is a good fit for the organization and vice versa. Being willing to learn new skills and try to creatively problem solve, having a compassionate outlook, and a passion for the mission are a must!
