Product Photographer and Writer for Web
Moth is a small boutique specializing in Japanese and Scandinavian housewares and garments made by artists and designers from both regions. We are seeking someone to join our small team in a hybrid position involving both photography and writing on a part time basis. Background knowledge in Japan, Scandinavia, and art/design preferred.
The photographer will make images in the small studio located in the back of the store. Primary role is to photograph items that come in for sale on the website, such as ceramics, stationery, books, and other housewares. Basic light kit with 2 lights, a DSLR, and tripod provided by the store. Will photograph both vertically as well as flat items from above. Proficiency in Photoshop required but editing workflow is generally shared with other employees. Photographer will need to bring their own laptop with access to industry standard editing software. Expertise with glassware not required.
In addition to photography, the employee will work alongside others to upload products to the rapidly growing website. This involves writing about various brands and items, including detailed information about each item's material, dimensions, care, and other relevant information regarding cut and fit. Familiarity with fashion and design preferred but not required. Strong writing and editing skills required.
Please refer to www.mothchicago.com for examples of both images and writing; new photographer will need to match current images in terms of scale and style, and match writing in terms of tone.
