Preparator

As a Preparator at Kavi Gupta Gallery your responsibilities will include installation, deinstallation, art handling and transportation, gallery upkeep (including and not limited to patching, painting, performing repairs, etc.), and upkeep of warehouse storage and function.

We are seeking an effective communicator. The ability to work well with large groups of people is also desired. A good sense of hospitality and desire to learn is highly valued. The ability to follow direction and remain flexible is also highly valued. Candidates with prior driving experience, utilizing software to track tasks, familiarity with photography, and familiarity with ArtLogic are highly preferred. Additionally, having forklift certification or willingness to become forklift certified is necessary. Further, a background in fabrication is favored.

The right candidate will take direction well, ask questions as problems arise and find solutions.

This is a full time salaried position. Compensation will be dependent on experience. Preparators are asked to be at one of our 3 gallery locations Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 6pm, and 11am to 5pm Saturday’s.

After working at the gallery for a minimum of 6 months, you will receive the following paid vacation time: two week vacation during end-of-year holidays, two weeks vacation in summer at time to be approved by your supervisor. You are also entitled to 5 paid/personal days in addition to comp time, which may be taken to compensate for overtime work from travel at agreed upon dates.
