Pre-Press Coordinator

Are you ready to join our team? We’re looking for a full-time Pre-Press Coordinator to work on a hybrid schedule in our Chicago office.
The Pre-Press Coordinator acts as a direct liaison between printers and the Phoenix publishing group and is responsible for the following:
-Preparing incoming art and layouts for press, and working with prepress vendors to ensure files are correct
-Reviewing project specifications for accuracy to ensure purchase orders are issued with correct information (or data information system as relevant)
-Maintaining complete project information in a database, including all transactions with printers.
-Outputting color prints using the in-house Epson printers.
-Ordering, managing, and approving foil stamping and embossing tools
-Assisting when issues relating to advanced samples arise by communicating directly with the printer.
-Communicating daily with domestic and overseas printers on current projects.
-Maintaining the proofers, calibrating them daily, changing paper and ink, and ordering supplies.
-Shipping proofs and other materials to vendors in conjunction with mailroom staff.
-Archiving files onto the company server.
-Maintaining publishing department font log.
-Staying up-to-date with current printing standards and processes.
-Assisting with designing new children's books as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 1-2 years of professional production experience
- Professional experience in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator in a production capacity, including preparing files for printing
- Knowledge of production specs, resolution, and file formatting
- Proactive, detailed-oriented, and highly motivated
- Time management, multitasking, and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, and with minimal supervision
