Poetry Educational Web Series - Director

Full Spectrum Features (FSF) and Chicago Poetry Center (CPC) are collaborating on the creation of a high-quality, children’s education web series that delivers poetry lessons in a dynamic and visually compelling format. We are in need of a Director, with a strong creative mindset and excellent storytelling ability, who is looking to collaborate with our team.

This series aims to be playful and wildly creative in it's production, and the lessons for use have been vetted by in-classroom use and teacher focus groups. The director will support turning these lessons into the dynamic, creative, video version of the fun we already have in classrooms across Chicago. Lesson plans and education goals have been predetermined for the production and the director will have the support of CPC as they develop the scripts for each episode.

  • Creating the overall look and theme of the series.
  • Drafting scripts for each episode in coordination with CPCs learning objectives.
  • Overseeing the production and post-production creative team as the project enters the production phase.

  • No degree required.
  • Experience directing short films and/or other storytelling forms.
  • Ability to work within project management software (such as Notion, Slack, etc.), to manage projects, timelines and schedules.

Application Process: Candidates will be asked to provide a resume, work samples, and a brief statement of why they are interested in this opportunity, and their approach to creating content geared towards children. Candidates that are invited to the next round will be asked to prepare a brief pitch and to interview with the FSF and CPC team.
