Performers for Experimental Documentary
Casting Call for "Committee of Six"
Who we’re looking for: Chicago based actors/performers with experience developing a character. Screen acting experience is a plus but not required. Open to all types/ages/gender expressions/races/abilities.
The project: A short film titled Committee of Six. Performers will work with the director to generate a conversation based on archival meeting minutes from the University of Chicago in the 1950's, when University administrators created a series of policies that came to be known as Urban Renewal. Some improvisation will be necessary. The rehearsal process will be filmed and may be used in the final piece. In addition, one of the shoot days will include one or multiple performances of the conversation with a live audience present. The project is supported by funding from the Graham Foundation, see project page here.
Schedule: We are aiming for June 2021 to shoot, with rehearsals taking place one or two weeks before. That said, scheduling for a shoot like this is subject to the whims of the pandemic, and we may have to be flexible.
Time Commitment: 4 - 6 rehearsals + 2 shoot days
