Part-time, Seasonal Retail Assistant at Neighborly (12-35 hrs/wk)
Neighborly is a local and woman-owned home and gift boutique committed to supporting independent makers and artists. Nearly all of our products are ethically sourced and/or eco-friendly. We are looking to hire a seasonal, part-time Retail Assistant at our location in Wicker Park to start as soon as possible through Jan 1. Saturdays in December and all of the following dates are required: Nov 20-22 and 24-26, Dec 20-24 and 26-31 (*there may be a few exceptions to these dates, but it will depend on permanent staff's availability). Sunday availability is also preferred.
At this job, you will be expected to:
> Offer exceptional customer service, greet every customer that comes to the shop, assist them with product information and recommendations, provide an easy and pleasant shopping and checkout experience.
> Learn and become a wizard at using our POS system, Shopify, to checkout customers, perform returns, look up products and inventory, and add new products.
> Maintain shop to be clean and orderly with basic tasks like folding Tshirts, rearranging out of place products, sweeping, cleaning, dusting shelves, removing trash and recycling, etc.
> Restock shelves when items sell, similarly, replace artwork on wall/display as needed. Restock supplies for checkout.
> Represent Neighborly and share the shop's story, act as an ambassador for the craftspeople whose products we carry.
> have prior experience in retail or hospitality
> have a demonstrated interest in independently made products and/or the arts
> have a great attitude, especially when providing customer service
> are a quick learner and can think on your feet
