Part-Time Photo Assistant
Potter & Potter Auctions seeks a Photo Assistant to support in the production of auction catalogs, marketing materials, and associated material, both pre- and post- production. This includes helping the photography department plan, set up, and complete photo sessions, and completing detail oriented image editing at a fast pace.
Responsibilities:
-Prep items for photography (assembly, cleaning, moving, etc.)
-Staging fragile items to be shot
-Handling lighting and camera equipment, including adjustment and setting of lights, setting up sweeps, and drives
-Shoot photos as needed for cataloging and promotional use. This includes printed catalogs, social media and marketing, and media materials
-Organize and shelve property before and after it has been photographed
-Edit images according to company style
-Maintain and organize studio space and shelving
-Assist in the coordination of materials that are in pre-production with our Operations Manager
-Assist in image requests from clients, consignors, and media sources
-Maintain all image archives
-Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
-Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear and see, especially for long periods of time.
-Be able to lift 30+ pounds.
-Regularly stoop or kneel.
-The ability to push a cart and shelve materials at tall heights.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Photography preferred, but not necessary
-2+ years of previous experience in a photography studio or similar experience with photo assisting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-High degree of proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge.
-Experience handling delicate material, some art handling experience preferred but not necessary
-Some experience with archival work preferred
-Self-motivated with critical attention to details, deadlines and reporting
-Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
-Reliable, professional demeanor
-Excellent Time Management skills
-Ability to work overtime and weekends as necessary
