Manager of Development and Community Engagement

The Elgin Master Chorale (EMC), a premiere performing arts organization in Elgin and the Fox Valley, seeks an engaging, strategic, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as the Development and Community Engagement Manager. This role is essential for fostering relationships with both institutional and individual donors, engaging with community groups and organizations, and supporting the Board of Directors and key staff in donor cultivation, stewardship, and managing outreach initiatives. The position reports directly to the Executive Director.Job Profile

The Development and Community Engagement Manager will spearhead initiatives to enhance fundraising and foster community engagement. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining relationships with donors and sponsors, securing funding, representing EMC in the community, and working closely with the Board and volunteers to plan and execute fundraising events and community engagement activities.Job Responsibilities:Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to set and implement annual and long-term development and community engagement strategies.

Manage development plans that balance fundraising goals with community outreach efforts, ensuring a diverse and integrated approach to meet or exceed objectives.

Establish and deepen relationships with a broad spectrum of donors (individuals, foundations, corporations) and community partners, enhancing EMC’s visibility and impact within the community.

Serve as a representative of EMC at concerts, community meetings, and special events, promoting the organization’s mission and programs.

Assist in the planning and execution of special events that serve both fundraising and community engagement purposes, such as donor receptions, community festivals, and collaborative projects with local organizations.

Assist with grant application processes, including research, draft proposal writing, and reporting to ensure a steady stream of funding.

Develop and manage content for fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, email communications, and social media outreach.

Support the Board of Directors in their development roles and facilitate their engagement with community initiatives.Qualifications

Minimum of three to five years of experience in fundraising and community engagement, preferably within the arts or a closely related field.

Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proven track record of increasing revenues through diverse fundraising strategies and building lasting relationships with various stakeholders.

Competency with Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software; a college degree is preferred, but not required.

Flexible work schedule, including the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Additional Details

This is a part-time position requiring an average of 20 hours per week, with the flexibility to work from home.

The role includes occasional evening and weekend commitments, particularly around EMC events and community engagements.
