Manager - Ceramics & PYOP Studio
Thrown Elements Pottery's Managers play a crucial role in creating the warm, friendly, professional and creative environment which allows our students to feel welcome and safe, letting them free to create. Our Managers are expected to display good leadership and communication skills, as well as, convey a mastery of our products, services, and facility. As a leader, this individual acts as a mentor and role model for all Associates and Interns, focusing on the daily functioning of the studio, as well as on customer service and the retail sales of our products and services. The manager will nurture and assist creative pursuits in ceramics for all students and visitors.
Managers will assist the owner in the day to day operations of the studio. They will oversee Associates, and Interns making sure all policies and procedures are adhered to and tasks completed, providing continuity for staff, students, and customers. Have ability to see tasks that need to be done and do/delegate as needed.
They will be part of the planning and development of programming, as well as teaching or leading assigned events. This includes requesting planned resources needed for the event, set-up, execution, and clean-up, while delegating tasks where appropriate.
In participation with other staff, help in creating and maintaining the voice of thrown elements pottery with the goal of increasing sales & staying engaged with our customer base, through proposed ideas for the functioning of the studio, social media posts, events, off-site representation, and fielding inquiries and mobile art programming sales calls.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Manage staffing and studio schedule. Teach lesson-based ceramic art activities and techniques. Process sales and facilitate marketing opportunities. Assist in day-to-day studio operations of retail shop/clay studio. Oversee and contribute to social media marketing. Make purchases for the studio to restock inventory. Facilitating and Hosting Parties, Workshops, Field Trips, Off-site enrichment and marketing opportunities. Answer customer questions, assisting customers with the use of studio materials and equipment. Loading and unloading kilns. Training new hires through established processes and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must be available to work weekends and some evenings. Preference to those with 3-5 years of clay experience. Education, retail and sales, and/or serving experience preferred. Knowledge of Square, Weebly, and Mailchimp platforms preferred.
