JOB TITLE: Literary and Dramaturgy Intern (part time)

REPORTS TO: Literary Manager and Dramaturg

FLSA STATUS: Hourly, Non-Exempt

INTERNSHIP DATES: November 2023 to July 2024

HOURLY RATE: $16.00/hour, 25 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Literary and Dramaturgy Intern primarily assists with literary management (tracking, evaluating, and responding to script submissions), dramaturgy, and the New Stages programs, in addition to providing administrative support to the Literary Manager and Dramaturg and Director of New Stages.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with the solicitation, cataloging and evaluation of script submissions, as well as with correspondence to playwrights, agents, theaters and play development programs

Conduct research for plays in production and under consideration, as well as for articles and program notes Serve as a production assistant for readings Assist with the smooth operation of New Stages programs Provide administrative support as needed Assist with special event planning, logistics, and execution

Attend artistic staff meetings

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Excellent research, writing and proof-reading skills are essential Strong knowledge of contemporary theater, theater history and playwriting

Interest in pursuing a career in dramaturgy, playwriting, directing, and/or producing Must have excellent people skills, be a self-starter, and be able to work independently
