Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of technical and specialized duties in the preparation, operation, and maintenance of the digital fabrication art studios. Operate and repair equipment in the digital fabrication studio such as CNC router, 3D printers, workstations, laser cutter, vinyl cutter, etc. Maintain and monitor the inventory and ordering of supplies and equipment. Oversee health and safety in the studio for students, faculty, staff, and student workers. Prepare studios for instruction, lead workshops on equipment, and provide specialized technical support to the full-time and part-time art faculty, and students.

• Confer with art faculty and admin regarding laboratory requirements.
• Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and monitor the use of equipment and materials in the digital fabrication studio.
• Coordinate contracted equipment maintenance as needed.
• Maintain computer and laptop stations in digital fabrications studio and other studios with laptops carts as needed.
• Order and install new equipment as necessary.
• Maintain security, health, and safety in the digital fabrication studio.
• Maintain and update safety procedures in the digital fabrication art studio.
• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of digital fabrication studio.
• Maintain inventory, order and stock approved materials for digital fabrication studio.
• Organize and distribute tools and materials in digital fabrication studio as needed.
• Working with the Facilities, Health and Safety, and Engineering departments to solve problems in the digital fabrication studio.
• Monitor open studio times.
• Lead or assist with instruction on equipment as needed.
• Train, supervise, and devise schedules with student workers.
• Assist in future development of digital fab studio.
• Collaborate with instructors to incorporate the studio into their class curriculum and schedule work times for classes.
• Operate and supervise welding area as needed for fabrication projects.
• Prepare space for instruction.
• Develop and maintain area budget in collaboration with chair, dean, program faculty, and Program Support Specialist.
• Other lab duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education

• Associates degree in Art or a related area required. Bachelors degree in Art or related area preferred.

• Experience

• One (1) to two (2) years related experience in a digital fabrication lab environment or equivalent required.
• One (1) year related experience in a sculpture, woodshop, welding studio environments or equivalent preferred.

• Includes periodic lifting of heavy objects, 50-75lbs and working with hazardous materials and equipment.
• This position requires background check and a physical lift test.

Pay Grade:
Classified 11 Hourly Range - 22.50 - 24.00
