LATITUDE is looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable member to add to our team! The Lab Director will be an integral part of LATITUDE and influential to our non-profit’s development as it continues to grow. We are looking for someone with a passion for imaging technology and education, strong interpersonal skills, and the continuous drive to learn in a fast-paced environment. The Lab Director works 40 hours per week and some night and weekend hours can be expected. This is an on-site, public facing position that is not able to be remote.
General Responsibilities include:
Manage general operations of a digital lab on a daily basis with the oversight of the Executive DirectorManage LATITUDE’s service bureau production, which includes printing, scanning, and advanced visualization workAssist patrons attending the lab while the scan and make their own printsDirectly manage and schedule and educate a volunteer staff of 10-15 Lab AssistantsOversee the lab experience and community health of all users with the ongoing support of Lab AssistantsAct at the primary point of contact for the technical needs of Artists in Residence Work with the Technical Director in equipment maintenance and development
The ideal candidate for this position
Has experience using Epson and/or Canon printers, Epson scannersHolds basic to intermediate knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and BridgeHas experience as an educatorHas professional writing skills when emailing customers or community membersHas at least a beginner knowledge of analog and digital photography practicesPrevious experience in Customer Service and/or Management - retail experience is a plusExperience with GSuite, Trello, Quickbooks, Print Tool, Zapier is a plusCan lift 5-50lbs by themselvesAn openness to learn! LATITUDE is a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) organization located in Chicago. We maintain a digital lab with high-end scanning and printing equipment available for DIY use, operate an artist in residence program, and organize ongoing arts programming. LATITUDE’s mission is to provide access to high-end digital media equipment, a professional production space, and a curriculum dedicated to real-world workflows and contemporary art theory. LATITUDE is prepared to offer subsidized health insurance plan, Paid time off, and bonuses commensurate with experience and other qualifications. Lab membership, education, and additional perks of this position will be discussed with interviewees. We do not have the ability to pay relocation costs at this time. Qualified candidates will sit down with members of our staff and board to discuss the position in early November, with the expected start date of December 7th, 2020.
