Keyboard Accompanist (piano & organ)
Contract/Consultant
Lux Cantorum Chicago is a non-profit auditioned choir in the Chicago area; our mission: “We nurture an inclusive, creative community by sharing the transformative power of sacred choral music.” We are a small organization, run by a volunteer Board of Directors, with only two paid part-time staff: our Artistic Director and our Accompanist. We are not in a position to provide union-rate compensation and/or benefits.
We are seeking a professional keyboard (piano and occasional organ) accompanist for 26 weekly rehearsals, and our winter (December) and spring (May) concerts. Responsibilities include playing accompaniment, vocal exercises, and/or vocal parts of 12-16 individual scores (or a major choral work) at weekly 2 hour Monday evening rehearsals (Sep-Nov) and (Feb-Apr) and performances of those works at 3-4 concerts (Friday & Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons.) Compensation is based on a flat fee for each concert production period. This position requires close artistic collaboration with the Artistic Director and evidence of professional musical leadership.
This consultant will report to the Artistic Director and occasionally collaborate with other Board members and/or Assistant conductor. Experience with choral performance and/or working with arts organizations is a plus.
