POSITION: Improv Instructor
REPORTS TO: Education Director
ORGANIZATION: Metropolis School of the Performing Arts

The Metropolis School of the Performing Arts strives to maintain a professional and creative work environment and is seeking a part-time improv instructor to join our team of experienced performing arts faculty. This instructor will teach two classes – grades 3-5 and grades 6-12.

- Creates and submits clear and concise syllabi appropriate for each age group to be approved by the Education Director prior to the start of each session
- Promotes a safe, welcoming, and creative educational environment for students to take risks and make bold choices
- Leads open showcases at the end of each session for family and friends
- Keeps record of weekly student attendance using a given scheduling platform
- Regularly communicates with the Education Director and other School staff
- Provide Education Director and parents with regular class updates through clear and effective written communication
- Adhere to specified Policies and Procedures given when hired

- Minimum 2 years experience in improvisation, comedy, and/or theatre strongly preferred
- Experience teaching all ages preferred
- Exceptional communication skills; ability to handle challenging situations calmly & professionally
- Ability to collaborate with other faculty & staff
- Highly organized, independent, & able to take direction
- Positive, motivated, flexible & easy-going disposition
- Must pass a background check prior to training

- Compensation varies with degree and experience
- Must be available to teach Mondays from 5:00PM-7:30PM at Metropolis
- Start date: January 31 st , 2022
- Training will take place prior to start date
