Human Resources and Risk Manager
The Aurora Civic Center Authority (ACCA), an innovative organization located on Stolp Island in the Fox River in the heart of the richly diverse community of historic Aurora, Illinois (one hour from downtown Chicago), is seeking a Human Resources and Risk Manager. ACCA is the parent organization, which also includes a 501(c)3 arm under the name of Paramount Arts Centre, Inc. It operates three performance venues: the 6,000-person RiverEdge Park, the 1,843-seat landmark Paramount Theatre, and the 165-seat, newly renovated Copley Theatre. ACCA produces and presents over 300 performances each year, including star-studded touring productions, a self-produced Broadway Series of musicals and the self-produced Bold Series for an annual audience of 350,000 patrons from over 250 communities. ACCA proudly operates the Paramount School of the Arts in the new John C. Dunham Aurora Arts Center, right next door to Paramount Theatre in downtown Aurora. Paramount Theatre also hosts free community events, $1 Classic Movie Mondays and its opulent interiors provide a spectacular backdrop for private functions such as wedding receptions or corporate galas. Across the street from Paramount Theatre are the gorgeous Meyer Ballrooms, which play host to multiple wedding receptions and rental events throughout the year.

DEPARTMENT – Human Resources
DIRECT REPORTING – Director of Human Resources and taking direction from VP Finance/HR
WORKS CLOSELY WITH – All departments of the organization
POSITION STATUS & SCHEDULE – Full time exempt; generally 8-9 hour days Monday-Friday with evening and weekend availability as needed.
COMPENSATION – Salary commensurate with experience with minimum salary starting at $50k; excellent benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401k and paid time off.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES –
• Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, is empathetic, proactive, and flexible with the ability to manage various responsibilities.
• Exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining confidentiality.
• Versed in all ACCA safety and health protocols, CDC health guidance and union agreements as they relate to health and safety.
• Work closely with Production Management, Company Management and HR to enhance and implement safety protocols that align with ACCA and Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) requirements.
• Ensure that health and safety requirements as defined by ACCA’s and AEA’s agreed upon infection control policies and protocols are implemented and communicated before and throughout the rehearsal and performance periods.
• Serve as primary point person to address health and safety questions and concerns with relevant production personnel including cast, crew, musicians, and production team members. Will have scheduled onsite work time at rehearsals and performances that is coordinated with HR and production to address cast and crew concerns and administer tests as needed.
• Oversee the Health and Safety committee, subcommittees, and safety walkthroughs. Address
identified risks and implement solutions, in partnership with relevant departments, on all findings from the safety walkthroughs.
• Create, refine, and enhance emergency evacuation procedures for all locations and hold training sessions for each as well as specialized evacuation trainings for Special Event and Patron Experience Management.
• Create and implement sexual harassment prevention training for all employees on an annual basis.
• Ensure that all employees receive appropriate trainings within their departments. This could include but is not limited to CPR, A.L.I.C.E., Bassett, Food Handling, Forklift Training
• Ensure appropriate number of employees are trained annually for Crowd Management and communicate trained individuals to schedulers to ensure proper coverage at all venues.
• Coordinate and conduct additional trainings as needed.
• Ensure all employees have appropriate OSHA training and ensure MSDS sheets are completed for each department.
• Coordinate and facilitate onsite vaccine clinics for ACCA employees and casts. Work with the production department to schedule clinics based on the production schedule.
• Conduct text notification testing quarterly.
• Program employee ID access cards for correct building access.
• Work with broker to obtain all commercial insurance.
• Act as the liaison between patron and insurance provider for liability claims and handle all other commercial insurance claims.
• Partner with IT to enhance building security infrastructure.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
• Working experience in risk management.
• Superior written and communication skills.
• Comfortable with public speaking in front of both large and small groups of people.
• Ability to plan projects, adhere to the timeline and see through to completion.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines.
• Ability to take initiative on projects and work both independently and within a team environment.
• Must be organized and a problem solver.
• Must have intermediate computer skills.
