Hip Hop Dance Teaching Artist

The Beverly Arts Center department of School Partnerships, is looking for Hip Hop Dance Teaching Artists for summer programming with our school partners throughout the South Side of Chicago. Summer Dance programming will begin in July 2022. If interested, opportunities to continue teaching with the Beverly Arts Center into the next school year can also be discussed upon hire. School Partnerships Teaching Artists are paid $30-$60 per hour on a pay scale that is contingent on level of education and teaching experience.

A Beverly Arts Center School Partnerships Teaching Artist operates as an independent subcontractor to teach arts enrichment workshops in Dance, Film, Music, Theatre, and/or Visual Arts in regional public and private schools and other partnering organizations, providing programming before or after school, covering in-school classroom teacher prep time, or delivering instruction in other contexts to young learners. Teaching Artists are responsible for creating all curriculum, lesson plans, and supply lists for individualized partnerships at each site, which are to be submitted prior to the start of any residency.

Teaching Artists are strongly motivated practicing artists who demonstrate tangible classroom management skills and an ability to properly address behavior issues among students. Transparent availability, scheduling flexibility, and strong communication skills are required assets for this position. As representatives of the Beverly Arts Center, artists are expected to be professional, prepared and prompt for all contracted classes. An approved background check through Accurate Biometrics is required upon hire to begin any programming.
