Hip Hop Dance Instructor

Viking Gymnastics & Dance is looking for an energetic, creative, and reliable teacher who specializes in teaching hip-hop dance. Viking is a family-oriented company seeking talented individuals who share our passion for working with children to make a lasting, positive impact. We strive to have a collaborative staff that is both technically strong and believes in teaching life-long lessons through positive reinforcement.

Our growing dance program is in its 7th season with over 500 students. We offer dance classes for ages 3-18 in Ballet, Contemporary/Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Tap, Pre-pointe, and Pointe. The Viking Dance program boasts strong family-friendly values, adhering strongly to age-appropriate choreography, music, and costuming. The class schedule runs July-June, culminating in our annual recital. We also offer a wide variety of dance camps and workshops throughout the year.

The ideal candidate has previous experience and a passion for teaching children. Saturday morning availability is required. This is a part-time position with the potential for growth.

Job Responsibilities:

Reliable and consistent presence for studentsMaintain an energetic and motivational teaching presenceCreate a positive and nurturing learning environment Stay up-to-date on dance trends and training methodsInstruct students in proper, safe, and informed dance techniques in an effective and encouraging mannerBalance strong technique, artistry, and funInstruct ages 5+ in hip hopConstruct progressive lesson plans that facilitate student growth throughout the yearConduct in-class student evaluations for level advancementUse age-appropriate music and choreographyChoreograph and rehearse routines for program performancesAttend monthly dance staff meetingsAdhere to administrative deadlines

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of studio teaching or equivalent experience Experience teaching young children ages 5+Strong behavior and time management skillsAbility to relate to, motivate, and energize students of all ages and skill levelsContinually invested in improving personal dance pedagogy
