Guitar Instructors for Adult Group classes (PT)

The Old Town School of Folk Music seeks part-time guitar teachers for its renowned adult core guitar, ensemble, and theory program.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or Music Performance strongly preferred.
• Minimum of two years of teaching and performance experience required.
• High level of musicianship and personal responsibility.
• Ability to make arrangements, sight-read staff notation, lead sheets, tablature, and chord charts.
• Ability to teach beginning through advanced levels on acoustic and electric guitar with both pick and fingerstyle is required.
• Candidate with a diverse knowledge of guitar pedagogy, techniques, repertoire, music theory, and aural skills.
• Candidate is able to demonstrate proficiency in numerous styles of americana-roots music i.e. folk, blues, rock/pop, jazz, and in mixed ensemble.
• Ability to teach in person at our Lincoln Park and Lincoln Square locations strongly preferred.
• Evening and weekend (daytime) availability is required.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
