Snow City Arts (SCA) seeks a detail oriented graphic designer on retainer to produce visually compelling print designs, as well as update and enhance existing collateral. The graphic designer will work closely with the Director of Development and Communications as well as the Assistant Director of Development and Communications in order to understand the context, concept, and scope of each project.
Final products and any templates requested from the Graphic Designer should offer SCA staff the flexibility and agency to produce high-quality materials in-house. All deliverables must thoughtfully embody the principles and values of the organization. The graphic designer should be mindful of existing branding and maintain a consistent voice across projects. They will be well versed in typography, composition, and all the key elements of graphic design and branding.
Potential Scope of Work in 2019
- Gala invitation including envelope, reply card, reply envelope using a chosen signature piece of student artwork (End of July)
- Gala program book (Early September)
- promotional piece for print and digital distribution for an exhibition at the Chicago Athletic Association (Mid July)
- Update the organizational brochure (October)
- Alumni Advisory Board Branding and collateral (October)
SCA inspires and educates children and youth in hospitals through the arts. SCA provides one-on-one and small group instruction in the visual arts, creative writing, theater, music, and media arts to patients at Rush University Children’s Hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital, and Children’s Hospital University of Illinois. SCA’s curricula in arts education are steeped in studio practices and work in tandem with the National Core Arts Standards and Common Core State Standards. Student workshops are assessed and documented in a customized database and an extensive portfolio archive. The SCA team includes a professional staff of 6; an artistic staff of 10 part-time teaching artists; and numerous interns and volunteers. SCA is a small but dedicated, efficient, and creative organization with broad reach.
Candidates must be proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and/or light HMTL/CSS coding. Experience in digital media is a plus.
SCA is interested in building a long-term relationship that renews on an annual basis. We are open to various contract set-ups including an up-front retainer and or specific fees per project. SCA’s monthly fee ranges from $280 - $400 depending on hours.
