Graphic Design and Digital Media Instructor

The Evanston Art Center is looking for instructors who can develop and lead classes in graphic design and digital art. At this time we are looking to expand the number of classes offered in our Maker Lab and Digital Media Department. Instructors should be individuals who have experience teaching and are ready to develop and implement a variety of learning plans. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic and accessible to beginning students, as well as students who are experienced and ready to grow their skillset. Our goal is to offer a variety of classes in graphic design basics, digital compositions, architecture, Procreate, digital typography, etc. Instructors typically teach classes once a week for multiple weeks or shorter 1, 2, or 3-day workshops for all ages. Equipment in the Maker Lab includes a darkroom, Mac laptops (with Adobe Creative Suite), iPad Airs with Apple Pencils (with Procreate), Epson Inkjet printers, DLSR cameras, and film cameras.

  • Digital Comics

Expectations of Evanston Art Center Instructors:

  • At least 1-2 years of teaching experience in school or community center settings.
  • Experience and interest in working with various ages (youth to adult).
  • Ability to develop and implement new curriculum for classes.
  • Ability to teach using different methods and teaching styles, ensuring participants are fully engaged.
  • Able to work with students of various skill levels (beginner to advanced).
  • Ability to collaborate/work well with administrative staff and other teachers.
  • Have experience working with equipment in Maker Lab and experience instructing on equipment.
  • Maintains Makerspace hardware (3D Printer, Laser Engraver, and other equipment).
  • Promotion of innovation and learning.
