Job Summary: The Grants Manager is responsible for assisting in the Development Department’s work in building, executing, and sustaining a robust strategic development plan that enables Chicago Sinfonietta to achieve its philanthropic goals. This position is charged with assisting the Department in guiding the organization toward realizing its mission, vision, and values. The Grants Manager works with the Director of Development to research, apply for, and write grants and proposals for government agencies, private foundations, and corporate funders. This person shall be responsible for prioritizing and meeting application and reporting deadlines and maintaining the schedule on the Development Department’s Master Calendar. This position works with the Director of Development and other members of the Development Team and Senior Staff to identify projects and needs within the organization to create opportunities for
new funding streams.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
GRANTS
o Assist in the research of new funding opportunities for general operations and programs
o Strategize with the Development team on an approach for prospective funding
o Responsible for prioritizing and meeting application and reporting deadlines and
maintaining the schedule on the Development Department’s Master Calendar
o Work with the Director of Development and other members of the Development Team
and Senior Staff to identify projects and needs within the organization to create
opportunities for new funding streams
o Responsible for maintaining records, data, and research on a variety of prospective funders and their funding priorities pertaining to grants.
o Assist in the writing and submission of grants
o Assist in the oversight of proposed grant activities and reporting
QUALIFICATIONS
o Exceptional writing ability and oral communication skills
o Demonstrated track record in proposal development and identification of new revenue streams
o High energy, self-motivated, deadline-driven and goal-oriented
o Produces a quality work product within tight time constraints
o Computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, and Office and ability to learn Development database
Minimum Starting Salary: $55,000
Chicago Sinfonietta offers a comprehensive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience and in line with similar positions of this scope with similar-sized orchestras in the country and Chicago cultural institutions
