Contemporary art gallery seeking an experienced Gallery Assistant to support daily operations in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Director, and supervised by the Gallery Associate, the Gallery Assistant acts as a first point of contact for visitors, provides administrative support, and is integral to maintaining the Gallery’s archives.
The Gallery Assistant acts as a first point of contact for visitors, greeting guests upon entry, answering messages, and offering tours as needed. The Gallery Assistant provides support for events and programs, manages the gallery’s archives including keeping up to date artist bios and CVs with exhibition history, residencies, and press. The Gallery Assistant also maintains the gallery’s mailing list database, ensuring the most accurate information is kept, and designs and schedules email newsletters and robust social media campaigns to promote our diverse roster of artists and gallery program. The ideal candidate must be highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. The candidate should be comfortable working both independently and with a team. Knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Constant Contact, Imgsrvr, and Artlogic is a plus, and an adaptive and fast learning mentality is required. Knowledge of contemporary art required.
