Kavi Gupta is recruiting a full-time Gallery Assistant for its Chicago Gallery Spaces.

We are seeking highly motivated, detail-oriented, reliable individuals to join our fast-paced, ambitious team. "No task is too small attitude and will do what it takes to get the job done."Responsibilities include the following: general gallery maintenance/upkeep, answering phones, archival work, press management, inventory management, updating the website and social media outlets, managing the mailing list, and updating artist's materials including CVs, digital presentations and image requests, among other daily tasks.

The Gallery primarily uses Adobe Suite, Google Suite, Mailchimp, and ArtLogic. Previous knowledge of these programs is highly recommended.The Gallery Assistant is the first point of contact with the Gallery’s public and clients and will extend a spirit of hospitality and knowledge of the exhibitions on view. The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work on various tasks at the same time.

Within the Gallery’s organizational chart, the Gallery Assistant engages with all members of the team, providing administrative assistance on a range of projects involving Gallery artists, clients, and institutional colleagues. In this way, the position requires organizational and time-management skills, initiative, and accountability to the role.

The ability to work under pressure and work selflessly in a place where ambiguity and constant change are always present is a must. Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, flexibility, and adaptability in all areas - coupled with being a quick learner are attributes that an ideal candidate will have in abundance.

In this way, each individual contributes their organizational and communication skills to further the Gallery’s mission and the advancement of our Mission and Gallery artists.Key Job Responsibilities in depth:Visitor Services:• Phone and in-person reception• Providing visitors with information and collateral on Gallery exhibitions• Answering general inquiries about the Gallery’s program and exhibitions• Directing inquiries to appropriate Team members• Maintain standards of tidy, clean public and private spaces• Extend hospitality to all visitors• Enforce COVID-19 safety protocols• Maintain organized suppliesAdministrative Support:• Manage the various meeting agendas and shared Gallery calendar

• Update Gallery’s digital materials and presentation documents 

• Update Gallery’s contact databases

• Manage Gallery’s library and publications inventory

• General support to senior staff and leadership 
This is an entry-level position, with room for growth; The Gallery has a demonstrated history of contributing to team members' professional development in the organization.
