Filter Photo Fellowship

Applications are now being accepted for the Filter Photo Fellowship.

Open to emerging and early-career artists and arts administrators, this Fellowship offers a unique experiential opportunity to work collaboratively with an established, non-profit arts organization. It is designed to foster the professional development of an artist or arts administrator seeking to better understand and develop skills in the workings of a small non-profit.

The Fellow's primary responsibility will be to craft the annual public programming plan for Filter Photo, with an emphasis on supporting and sustaining a diversity of voices in contemporary photography. Under the guidance of the executive director, this person will solicit proposals from the community, in addition to designing their own programs, and will provide administrative support for regularly scheduled programs that occur throughout their Fellowship. Additional learning opportunities include art handling and installation and program planning for the annual Filter Photo Festival.

We are looking for applicants with a strong sense of initiative who will use their unique experiences and perspective to influence the development of programming at Filter Photo. Compensation includes mentoring with staff and industry professionals (as available), as well as a monthly stipend.

This position is primarily remote. The Fellow will independently handle tasks with flexible working hours. They are required to attend weekly staff meetings (which can be in-person or remote), as well as assist at in-person and online events. This is a 10 hour a week position from May 1 – October 31, 2021, with a monthly stipend of $825 (pre-tax).

Filter Photo is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from all who are interested, with priority consideration given to those who identify as ALAANA (African, Latinx, Arab, Asian, Native American), BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color), LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer), non-binary, and/or disabled.
