Film Distribution & Impact Strategist

"The Talk: Sex Miseducation As An American Crisis" is currently in search of a freelance Distribution & Impact Strategist for their documentary and creative outreach program.

The ideal candidate would be excited to work with our post production team from mid July to early September in Chicago, working both remotely and in our River West studio. Funded by the national Davis Projects For Peace grant, this project tackles issues around varying public school sex education mandates and curriculums across the US.

As a Distribution Strategist for The Talk we hope to give you the opportunity to hit the ground running to help our team create a national reckoning about this issue. By taking on this role you would have a team alongside you that is excited and eager to take creative risks, supporting divergent media outreach strategies all while connecting you directly with our vast resources across the city. This summer you will help The Talk apply for additional grants and screening opportunities, film festivals and competitions, finding our target audience and the best way to reach them, as well as having your eye overseeing the post production process in studio to help take this project to the next level.

If you accept this offer, we will work together to devise a contract within the next couple weeks to make sure all agreed terms of the commitment will be laid out transparently.

Within our current budget, we are prepared to give a flat commissioned rate, in which the contact will be open for renegotiation if additional grants and more allocated funds are achieved.

We would be happy to work with nontraditional strategists, including students, activists, grant writers, progressive educators, and fellow filmmakers—however previous experience with documentary/nonfiction subject matter is preferred. What’s most important to us is that you’re inspired to put in the work to make this as impactful as possible—that's our top priority!

Think you’re a good fit?

Send your resume and a brief introduction to thetalktoolkit@gmail.com and we’ll be in touch!
