PT Facilities Staff

Steppenwolf Theatre Company is accepting applications for a part-time facilities staff positions. An ideal candidate should have basic knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and drywall/painting. Additionally they should have great attention to detail, be self-motivated and be able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously. This position is supervised by the Operations Manager and Facilities Supervisor. (Week days late morning to early evening availability, flexible to cover early week day performance. Week day evenings and weekend availability including Sunday.)

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Working closely with the facilities staff on daily maintenance needs around the theater
  • Cleaning common areas like kitchens and break room
  • Monitoring and servicing restrooms throughout the day
  • Detailed cleaning of private spaces such as offices and dressing rooms
  • Respond to any major spills or other cleaning crises
  • Respond to maintenance problems around the theater such as fire alarms, flooding, or other emergencies
  • Setting up and tearing down onsite events
  • Seasonal grounds work and snow removal
  • Capable of working independently on maintenance projects as assigned by supervisors
  • Additional duties as required
  • Cross train to work as a garage parking attendant

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience maintaining varied facilities and buildings
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • The ability to be a team player, building relationships between people and departments
  • Good attention to detail and organizational ability
  • The ability to handle multiple requests and juggle multiple projects
  • Effective communication with supervisor on the status of projects


Salary: $15/hr. Part-time employees are eligible for Steppenwolf's dental plan, as well as vision insurance, a pre-tax Ventra card, and a 401(k)-retirement program.
