Exhibitions Director
POSITION: Exhibitions Director
Part-time, 28 hrs a week, some nights and weekends
JOB SUMMARY: This is a wonderful opportunity for a dynamic, self-motivated individual who is passionately committed to the arts. We are looking for someone who has vast knowledge of contemporary art and at least two years of experience coordinating exhibits. Their responsibilities will include putting forth a program of exhibitions (rolling two year calendar) that is accessible and relevant to our community, our world and the art world. The ideal candidate will be energetic and have professional verbal presentation and written communication skills. Candidates will have respect for the audiences LCA serves and understand and support the values of Lubeznik Center for the Arts; excellence, relevance, accessibility, respect and inclusion.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Builds relationships, collaborates and communicates positively and effectively with artists, staff, board, other museum colleagues, collectors, critics, etc.
2. Has vast knowledge of contemporary art
3. Has a minimum of two years of experience laying out exhibitions
4. Has excellent written and verbal skills.
5. Will meet goals, deadlines, and budgets as outlined in LCA’s strategic plan.
6. Serves as a champion for diversity in all exhibition activities
7. Is highly reliable, accountable and able to meet deadlines
8. Gives engaging exhibit tours for adults
9. Creates written materials, to be used for grant requests, exhibition statements and wall tags
10. Ability to track budgets
11. Serves as a member of the leadership team, collaborating respectfully with the executive, education and marketing staff
12. Completes other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Demonstrated experience in the curation of exhibits
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of digital media required
- Passion for the arts and LCA's mission, vision and audiences
- Demonstrated interpersonal/human relations skills and ability to collaborate and maintain strong partnerships
- Very strong professional verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management; must have ability to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated supervisory experience
Education and experience equivalent to: Bachelor's in Art, Curitorial Studies or Related Education; supplemented with five years of related arts experience.
