Event Photographer

Snow City Arts (SCA) seeks an experienced and professional event photographer for our 2019 gala, Gallery Night, at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago Ballroom on September 27, from 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.. This is an onsite, freelance opportunity. The photographer will provide their own setup and equipment. The photographer should be able to take pictures in a variety of lighted settings and with varying levels of subject movement. We expect engaging shots of our guests and activities to be documented including photos of artwork, attendees, ambiance, signage, candids, and for important moments to be captured. The photographer should be friendly, outgoing, and dependable.

Photographs should be edited and touched up appropriately and prepared for both print and web. The final photographs should be delivered to the organization in a timely manner post event, by October 2, 2019.


SCA inspires and educates children and youth in hospitals through the arts. SCA provides one-on-one and small group instruction in the visual arts, creative writing, theater, music, and media arts to patients at Rush University Children’s Hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital, and Children’s Hospital University of Illinois. SCA’s curricula in arts education are steeped in studio practices and work in tandem with the National Core Arts Standards and Common Core State Standards. Student workshops are assessed and documented in a customized database and an extensive portfolio archive. The SCA team includes a professional staff of 6; an artistic staff of 10 part-time teaching artists; and numerous interns and volunteers. SCA is a small, but dedicated, efficient, and creative organization with broad reach.


  • Photographer has their own equipment
  • Experience in providing photographic coverage of live programs, events, event attendees in a variety of lighting, and parties organized by clients
  • Sound knowledge of digital image editing, manipulation, and restoration procedures
  • Ability to operate digital camera to take interesting pictures and produce visually appealing digital photos
  • Ability to handle and resolve event photography-related issues and requests of clients
  • Professionalism

Project Fees

There will be a $250 flat fee for this job.
