Event Intern - Night Out in the Parks
The Chicago Park District's Night Out in the Parks series presents cultural events in neighborhood parks throughout the city, making community parks safe havens and hubs of cultural activity. We are seeking energetic, independent Event Interns to provide pre-event, on-site, and post-event support for park staff, patrons, and artists/arts organizations. Interns will be responsible for executing (event logistics), documenting, and promoting Night Out in the Parks events such as concerts, theater, and dance performances in parks citywide.
Night Out in the Parks Interns will also assist with the responsive development, implementation and oversight of the Chicago Park District’s Active Audience Management Strategy to ensure the health and safety of all patrons and staff onsite for events. In accordance with state, local and federal COVID safety plans, this Strategy may call for staff to transport event equipment (stakes, ropes and signage) to and from the event, to place, setup and strike the performance area and audience viewing area using ropes and stakes. Interns will assist the artist partners in managing the seating of audience members, to supervise audience adherence to safety guidelines, and to support audience members in their understanding of necessary safety policies. When onsite, staff will serve as a primary point of contact for audiences or park staff requiring additional event or security support.
This position is part-time/seasonal (25-35 hours per week, late June – early October, 2021). Candidates must be Chicago residents and willing to travel to parks throughout the city.
