Development Specialist

Overview

The Chicago Public Art Group was founded in 1972 with the mission to unite artists and communities through partnerships to produce high quality public art. The mural movement was sparked in Chicago by CPAG founders – and over 1000 works of public art now transform city neighborhoods. Our work is rooted in the principle that everyone deserves to see great art, that every community deserves a voice, and that artmaking and public art encourage community investment.

CPAG is seeking a full-time Development Specialist who will manage and direct comprehensive fundraising operations for the organization. It’s an exciting time in the evolution of the organization, and the first-time that CPAG will have a fundraising position on staff to build private giving. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a broad background in fundraising, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and have the ability to lead projects independently.

Key Responsibilities:

● Build corporate and individual donor base, manage annual appeal, and assist in managing donor relationships (45%)

● Plan and execute one fundraising event and smaller events including openings, unveilings and cultivation events (15%)

● Donor database and grant management (10%)

● Assist with marketing and communications (10%)

● Assist executive director with grant writing (10%)

● Partner with the executive director to develop and manage annual development plan (5%)

● Ensure that gifts are recorded and acknowledged, and data is analyzed to enhance donor retention (5%)

Qualifications & Skills:

● 1-3 years professional fundraising experience

● Passion for mission of Chicago Public Art Group

● Skilled in relationship building

● Experience in planning and executing events

● Highly organized self-starter and good project manager

● Excellent written and oral communication skills

● Creative thinker and problem solver

● Familiarity with donor databases

Work Hours: 40 hours/week; occasional evening and week-end hours required. Flexible hybrid work schedule.

Compensation: $54,000 - $58,000
