Development Coordinator position

Hours: 10 hours per week

Compensation: $20 / hour

Reports to: Executive Director


Elastic Arts Foundation is seeking a highly dedicated and energetic person to fill a position at our performing and visual arts presenting organization and venue in Logan Square. Elastic Arts is a multi-use arts space that presents adventurous and unconventional performing and visual arts from a wide range of aesthetic and performing traditions. We provide a creative home for an extraordinarily diverse creative community, presenting performing arts programming from jazz to experimental music, electronic music, hip hop, international music, dance, puppetry, poetry, multimedia events, performance art etc. ‒ as well as maintaining a visual arts gallery. Elastic Arts Foundation also partners with Kuumba Renaissance to present programming on a mobile stage called the Culture Coach in underserved areas of the city and places that lack arts infrastructure. The Development Coordinator will assist the Executive Director in fundraising efforts including grants, individual giving, special events, corporate giving, and our membership program. Candidates should have at least one year experience fundraising and/or writing grants for arts nonprofits. They should have experience with online communications (social media, websites, video editing, writing, etc.).


Individual Giving

Oversee the management of the Elastic’s donor database, ensuring the accuracy and robustness of new and existing dataSupport the Executive Director in managing donor portfolios and preparing key solicitation and stewardship documentsHelp draft communications with new, current, and former donorsProcess contributions and corresponding acknowledgements in an appropriate and timely manner

Grants and Corporate Giving

Support the Executive Director in researching prospective institutions and in writing, assembling, and submitting grant proposals and reportsEnsure that Elastic’s grants calendar is up to date, and that all deadlines are met.Research and cultivate appropriate corporate donorsDevelop sponsorship materials

Events and Campaigns

Assist all aspects of coordinating development related events, including Elastic’s Annual Benefit, donor cultivation events, and others as specified.Work with Development Committee on planning fundraising events and campaignsDevelop materials and mailing lists for, and support the implementation and evaluation of 3-4 mailings per year including annual appeal and Benefit solicitations


Record grants and donations, and create periodic summary reports comparing grants and donations received to fundraising goals.Schedule and prepare materials for Development Committee meetings

The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn and grow with the organization in a fundraising role. S/he/they will have:

Interest in learning or deepening experience in nonprofit fundraising Strong writing skillsPreferred one to two years of office experience, including MS Word and ExcelExceptional interpersonal and communication skillsCritical thinking skills and creativityThe ability to work as part of a team in a unique, fast-paced, and dynamic environmentA broad understanding of Elastic’s mission and a commitment to supporting Chicago’s most adventurous, non-commercial musicians, artists, and performersA commitment to equity, inclusion, and justice and a desire to work within an organization that strives to uphold those values in its culture, operations, policies and proceduresFlexibility to work some evenings and weekends as neededDesign experience is a plus, but not required.Spanish language is a plus, but not required.
